FAQ - frequently asked questions about storage

placeB is open to anyone who needs more space and would like to rent a storage room. These can be private persons, but also companies or associations.

A smartphone with internet access. The free placeB app turns your smartphone into a key for the building and your box. It's extremely easy to use.

A placeB box is your private storage space. Sizes range between 1 and 50 m3.

Storage spaces (we're talking about placeB boxes) range between 1 m3 and 50 m3 in size. There are various options, depending on the location.

It varies, depending on the location, the length of the storage period and the size of the space. Prices for a placeB box (that's what we call the individual storage spaces) start at just CHF 39 per month for a 1 m3 box.

Normally not.

Only in a few exceptions do we have to ask for a deposit: In order to protect ourselves from possible payment defaults, we carry out a credit check on all customers. Customers with insufficient creditworthiness either have the option to pay by credit card or to leave a deposit of 3 months' rent. This deposit will be refunded after cancellation.

Yes, you can. To find out whether your chosen box size is right for you or whether the placeB app really works that easily, we offer you the chance to try out your placeB box and test our system risk-free.

You have seven days after booking to visit and test your storage room.

Is the start date of your booking at a later date?

That's no problem either! You can reach us during our office hours Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm. We will give you access to your storage room remotely.

If for any reason you are not convinced, you can withdraw from the contract. Any money already paid will be 100% refunded.

You can cancel your box within the first seven days via our app, or simply send us a short email - info@placeb.ch!

An email to us is enough! We promise.

We accept credit cards, TWINT or payment on account.

If you would like to pay by invoice, a fee of CHF 5.00 per invoice will be charged. Payment by credit card is free of charge.

Unless you have agreed to weekly rent (weekly invoicing), you will receive your invoices monthly by email.

For example, if you have booked your box with a start date of 25.08.2021, you will receive your future invoices by email on the 25th of the following month.

If you have deposited a credit card, it will be charged on the 25th of each month and you will receive the already paid invoice for your records by email.

You are also welcome to adjust your payment period flexibly and, for example, pay every 3 months. If you would like to have such a collective invoice, please let us know by email - info@placeb.ch.

We send invoices by e-mail.

MasterCard / Visa / American Express.

If the invoice is not paid within 10 days after it is issued, our system will automatically block your storage space until the outstanding amount is paid.

Are you in delay of payment due to an uncharged credit card? Simply charge it and let us know by email (info@placeb.ch) so that we can charge the credit card and release the storage space.

Have you gone into arrears due to an expired credit card? Then you can simply update your new credit card in your app under "User account" and let us know by email (info@placeb.ch). We will charge your credit card and release your storage space.

placeB has the right to charge overdue payment fees. In case of prolonged non-payment, we will have to initiate debt collection and vacate/sell items in the storage room. You can find more information on this in our terms and conditions.

That's easy. Just update your credit card information via app under "user account".

Basically, you commit to renting the storage box for a minimum of this period. However, it is not a problem if you want to cancel beforehand. In this case, if necessary, the discount will be corrected retroactively and you can leave us at any time within a week.

Reservations can be made up to 1 month in advance. If you would like to reserve your placeB box even further in advance, simply send us an email. Together we will find a solution: info@placeb.ch.

Directly on our website. Search for the right box for you in our price calculator and click on "book now". After booking, you install the placeB app on your phone, which becomes your key. You have immediate access to your box.

The minimum duration of use is 1 week. There is no maximum duration. For example, you can sign a contract for an open-ended period of more than 12 months, which is automatically extended by a further month without notice. So you can keep your storage space for as long as you like.

There are no notice periods.

Without notice, the contract is simply extended by a further month (exception: if the minimum rental period is one week, the contract is extended by a further week). If you terminate the contract within the minimum rental period, the contract will continue until the end of the minimum rental period. If you cancel after the minimum rental period, the contract will continue until the end of the current usage period.

You can also terminate the contract on the last day of the current period of use. On the last day you have access until midnight.

You can easily cancel your contract in the placeB app:

3. Click on contract details
4. "Cancel contract"

Yes, you can do that with the placeB app.

Not automatically. However, you must be insured against theft, fire and water damage. You have two options: You can either contact your home insurance provider, or you can insure the stored items with us – just select the appropriate box on the contract. The cost of insuring with us is probably lower than what you would pay with your home insurance provider: our monthly fee is CHF 6 per CHF 10,000 goods value.

You don't have to! If you don't cancel your contract, it will always be renewed automatically for another month, or for another week if the minimum rental period is one week.

You can easily cancel your contract in the placeB app:

3. Click on contract details
4. "Cancel contract"

No – you don't need one. You can open your placeB box and all the doors of the building on the way to your storage space with the free placeB app.

Immediately after you have completed the booking online.

No. The placeB app gives you round-the-clock access to your placeB box.

Yes, it's very easy with the placeB app. You can grant access to as many people as you like for a definable period of time - simply by entering the telephone number or email address of the desired person.

You can choose whether you want to give this person long-term or short-term access to your storage space.

For short-term access, you decide whether the person gets 1x, 1h, 6h or 24h access to your box. This person will then receive a link via SMS or email with which they can open your box. Important: Do not forget the country code (e.g. +41) when entering the mobile phone number.

If you give a person long-term access, he or she can also register in the app. As soon as you have shared the access with them, they will see your box under "My boxes - shared with me". They can then open the box at any time. However, you remain the only one who can cancel the Box. Important: Do not forget the country code (e.g. +41) when entering the mobile phone number.

Yes, you can do that, but be careful: the door cannot be closed remotely! Only open your box if you (or someone you trust) are standing in front of it.

We choose our locations so that they are as easily accessible as possible. Small goods transporters and trolleys are available at all our storage locations.

Basically, everything that common sense allows.

Toxic, explosive, dangerous, perishable, illegal, living, odourless and plants are not allowed.

It is also important that you pack items made of textiles or human hair, such as fur or carpets, in an airtight container.

The boxes are storage areas for objects or materials and may not be used as hobby rooms, rehearsal rooms or bedrooms!

placeB boxes are basically storage space and not to be used as a workplace. You can repack and sort the items that are stored in your placeB box but other types of work are not permitted, due to liability considerations.

No. The boxes have neither power sockets nor running water.

No, no one can see into your box. Each box has steel walls. So your privacy is guaranteed.

Internet access:

To open your storage room, your mobile phone must be connected to the internet. To enter the building, you need to access the data network of your mobile phone provider. Inside the storage room you can connect to our WLAN. You will find the password at the entrance to the storage room.

Emergency opening:

A white thread hangs behind the lock of each storage room. This must be kept free at all times, as it serves as an emergency opening. If you lock yourself in your storage room without a mobile phone, you can pull on this thread to open the door. If the thread gets caught, you will not be able to open your box the next time you try, as this will block the lock.

Our great storage doors may also have days when they don't feel like opening. In this case, pull lightly on the top of the door as soon as you hear the sound of it opening.

The box must be empty, clean and locked.

Yes, we are flexible. If availability allows, you can change to a larger or smaller box, or book an additional box if necessary.

If you plan to change, you can simply book the desired box via your app and then inform us by email (info@placeb.ch) that you would like to change. We will be happy to help you.

Each location has a main entrance that is accessible around the clock with the placeB app. In the location description on our website and in your app (select box - location info), you will also always find a PDF document with an overview map and other helpful information.

If the login to your app does not work, you can click "Forgotten password" right below.

Then enter the email address that you have stored in your user account and you will receive a link with which you can define a new password.

Please check the following points:

• Are you logged into the app?
• Do you have internet or are you connected to our WLAN (password at the entrance to the storage room)?
• Has the start date in your contract already been reached (access cannot be clicked on)?
• Is your contract still active or have you already cancelled it?
• Are there any outstanding payments? If your box is blocked due to non-payment, we ask you to settle all outstanding invoices. Your box will then be automatically unlocked again.

After that:

• Log out of the placeB app and log in again.
• You may have an old version of the app, in which case download the new version.

It may also be that our great storage room doors have days when they don't feel like popping open. In this case, press slightly on the top of the door as soon as you hear the sound of the door opening.

If the booking was completed correctly, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail and your box will appear in the placeB app (download and log in).
